Common Tech Crew Questions

How much experience do I need to be on the tech crew at Live Arts?

None! It’s great if you have experience, but our mission is to teach you anything and everything you need to know. The only thing you need is a willingness to learn and a can do attitude.

Is there any special clothing I am expected to wear?

It depends on what you are working on. If you are crew during a performance, you will be asked to wear “show blacks”, which is long black pants, a long sleeve plain black shirt (no logos), and black close toed shoes.
If you are working in our scene shop, you will be asked to wear long pants and closed toed shoes for safety purposes. Long hair must be tied back and you will be asked not to wear large or dangling jewelry.

How much will I get paid?

We currently do not pay our technicians. As we grow, we are planning to do this as our funding increases.

Do I need to be a member of Live Arts to work on the tech crew?

No. We encourage everyone to become a member, as the membership money we receive directly funds our productions, but this is not a requirement to participate.

How much of my time will I need to commit?

That depends on what role you are performing. Jobs can consist of a few hours or can last several days per week.
