As we celebrate lots of new things on the Live Arts Theatre horizon, we are highlighting various people who make up the village we like to call the Live Arts Theatre family. This series will focus on the many actors, directors, techies, stage hands, members, and even our regular theatre-goers who make Live Arts Theatre great.
Our next profile is Dawn Davridge.
Please introduce yourself:
I am Dawn Davridge, dancer, costume designer, committee member and all-around volunteer for Live Arts Theatre.
How long have you been involved in theatre?
Since I was born? My bio mom was a professional ballerina, so I grew up backstage and in studios and rehearsal halls. I would help her and sew costumes for productions as a kid and I danced ever since I could remember and was involved in various productions and plays throughout my life.
What brought you to Live Arts?
I came to live arts to see D [Norris] in Stealing Home and fell in love with the theatre and the people. Then Bill [Pacer] asked me to do a music video for him, and then he asked me to audition for Fiorello and that was it I was hooked.
What is your favorite Live Arts show that you’ve worked on/seen? And Why?
Fiorello, because that was my first time on stage again! I got pushed to sing outside of my comfort zone, I got to help with costumes and fell back in love with costume design. And it felt so good to be on stage and performing, and it was amazing that my waltz with D was singled out by one of the producers as one of their favorite moments in the show, it made me feel really good!!
What do you love about Live Arts?
Almost everything. The shows, the chances to learn new things, the people that I get to meet… it’s just an amazing group of people and community and atmosphere of learning and performing. Just so much to love!
What are you looking forward to?
I’m really looking forward to costuming Venus in Fur this summer, I really hope amidst all the virus stuff that I still get this amazing opportunity!
