As we celebrate lots of new things on the Live Arts Theatre horizon, we are highlighting various people who make up the village we like to call the Live Arts Theatre family. This series will focus on the many actors, directors, techies, stage hands, members, and even our regular theatre-goers who make Live Arts Theatre great.
Our next profile is Marita McKee.
Please introduce yourself:
My name is Marita McKee. I currently work as an admissions professional, but my true passion is the work I do as an actor, entrepreneur and creative.
How long have you been involved in theatre?
I’ve been involved in theatre since 2018.
What brought you to Live Arts?
I first came to Live Arts when I auditioned for a role in Blues for an Alabama Sky. This will always remain a significant moment in my theatre career because it marks my first full theatre production.
What is your favorite Live Arts show that you’ve worked on/seen? And Why?
My favorite Live Arts show is The Servant of Two Masters: Flipped. It was my first time seeing a production where the male and female roles were reversed, and it made for some amazing comedic moments while watching.
What do you love about Live Arts?
What I love about Live Arts is their ability to make quality theatre accessible to the local community. Live Arts also functions at the level of a regional theatre, offering numerous opportunities for growth among theatre professionals. But more than that, it’s truly a community. Once you’re in, you’re family!
What are you looking forward to?
I’m truly looking forward to seeing Live Arts grow in reach and impact – to see it continue to aid in the development of theatre professionals.
