David Vahedi (Max) is excited to be making his Live Arts debut! In fact, he is so excited, that he just might flip, and hopes it is his first of many Live Arts shows. David made his acting debut last month in Canticle Ensemble’s “Song of Solomon”, as part of the Atlanta Fringe Festival. We caught up with David in between rehearsals and learning to whistle to chat about the show.

We are so excited to have you join us. What excites you about the show?

“Being around all the dancing and music. The songs get stuck in my head for days and days. Like that “Money” song? Yeah, I was singing it in my sleep. I’m not a dancer, but I was killing it in my sleep. In all seriousness, this cast is uber talented and you need to come see them.”

Do you have a favorite song?

“Money. It’s so catchy, it’s been stuck in my head for weeks. I dance it in my mind.”

Tell us about your character, Max. Is he anything like you in real life?

“He’s an a-hole. You’re not usually encouraged to be an a-hole in real life, so it’s fun to play one onstage.”

What is your favorite thing about your character?

“Like a said before, he’s kind of an a-hole, and I like playing him. He owns the club, which is cool. I also get to kiss Sally and beat people up.”

What can you tell audiences about Cabaret?

“It’s a wondrous world of dancing, excitement, violence, and love. Forbidden love really, which is the sweetest kind. Oh yeah, and did I mention I get to kiss Sally? In all seriousness, the songs will get stuck in your head, and the cast is so freaking talented that you can’t help but be entertained.”

When not at the theatre, you can catch David playing with Leo and Chico, two of the coolest, most lovable, cuddly cats ever. He would also like to inform everyone that this show has taught him that he doesn’t know how to whistle. You can catch David and the rest of the cast when Cabaret opens July 17! Tickets on sale now!
