Meet the cast of the Spoon River Project- Andre Eaton Jr.

andre_20163453_socialmediaAndre Eaton Jr. comes to us with a rich set of theatre experiences. He studied theatre at Georgia State University, where some of his favorite roles were Ken Gorman in Rumors, Betty/Edward in Cloud Nine, Ophelia in Hamlet, and Douglas Panch in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.  He also apprenticed at Horizon Theatre.

Andrea is playing the multi-actor role of Actor 3 in The Spoon River Project.  He generously answered a few questions for us to share with you:

Q: Is this your first show at Live Arts, and what other shows have you done with us?
A: Yes this is my first show here at Live Arts.

Q: What attracted you to audition for The Spoon River Project?

A: This was a show that was different from anything I have ever done before.

Q: Name two fun facts about you?

A: I got to participate in the fringe festival in Edinburgh, Scotland last year.  I’m a musical theatre nerd.

Q: What is your approach to playing multiple characters?

A: I usually start with physicality first. Usually, If I can figure out how they walk and carry themselves than everything else kind of lines up after that.

Q: Why should audiences come and see The Spoon River Project?

A: It’s a beautiful show that is probably different than anything they’ve seen before. You really get sucked into Spoon River and the characters that inhabit it.

Q: What, if any, special challenges are presented when bringing 19th century poetry to life on-stage?

A: screen-shot-2016-09-27-at-7-09-40-pmI think that the hardest part for me is not to recite or think about it like it’s poetry but to look at it as the character just sharing what is most important to them.
