Live Arts Theatre welcomes Edward Thompson to our stage once again, this time playing “Actor 6” in The Spoon River Project. Edward will play several roles in this ensemble based show, and we are very excited to work with him once again. You may have seen Edward on our stage before with It’s a Wonderful Life, our holiday Radio Play from last year. He also played the illustrious role “Suzy’s John” in Hot L Baltimore in April 2016.
Edward’s background includes a BA in political science and his day job includes background investigating. Hmmm… what other neat little tidbits can we find out about him? Here are his answers to some of our questions:
Q: What is your approach to playing multiple characters?
A: My approach is to learn a character completely before moving to the next one. This way, there is no mixing up the characters in my mind.
Q: Why should audiences come see The Spoon River Project?
A: The audience should come see it, because it is a character study for a very interesting era in American history. Each character has a rich and interesting backstory. All testimonies draw from real experiences.
Q: What if any special challenged are presented when bringing the 19th century poetry to life on stage?
A: 19th century poetry is very difficult in today’s era because of the drastic change in speech since then. I have had to research some of the characters because their words don’t quite translate.
Live Arts Theatre is looking forward to sharing The Spoon River Project with our audience. It is a show about life… and death, and a fitting start to our season theme, Death and Taxes. The show runs October 7-9, 2016 at Belfry Playhouse (downstairs at Norcross Presbyterian Church), 3324 Medlock Bridge Rd
Norcross, GA. Fri/Sat @ 8pm, Sun @ 2:30pm.
