Meet the cast of The Spoon River Project- Joanna Meyer

JoanmeyerJoannana Meyer graduated from LaGrange College with as a theatre major. While at LaGrange, she played Liz Embry in The Philadelphia Story and Wanda in Wanda’s Visit. She is quickly becoming a Live Arts fixture, having played Liz (and others) in ReEntry, and Ruth Dakin Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life. Does anyone remember the voice of the Principal in High School Confidential?  That was her too! We are delighted to have her back in  as Actress 4, portraying Sarah Brown, Rosie Roberts, Elsa Wertman, and Daisy Frasier.

We are very proud of the work Joanna has done with us, and find her not just a joy on stage, but a delight in real life… and her baked goods are amazing!  Joanna was gracious enough to play our game of question and answer! Here are the tidbits she shared with us:

Q: Name two fun facts about you?

A: I just got engaged.

I teach high school English.

Q: What attracted you to audition for The Spoon River Project?

A: I auditioned because I thought the language was beautiful and needed to be heard. The characters may be old, but the stories are timeless.

Q: Why should audiences come see The Spoon River Project?

A: Audiences should come see Spoon River because they will find themselves in the characters. They will be amazed how relatable 19th century life is to today.

Q: What is your approach to playing multiple characters?screen-shot-2016-09-27-at-7-09-24-pm

A: My approach to playing multiple characters is to focus on what drives each character. Focusing on that makes it easier to distinguish the multiple personalities.
