Meet the cast of The Spoon River Project- Lee Brewer Jones

Live Arlee-jones-head-shot_0431ts Theatre is delighted to have Lee Brewer Jones grace our stage once again in The Spoon River Project, where he will be playing Actor 5.  You may recognize him from his brilliant portrayal of Mr. Morse in LAT’s Hot L Baltimore. Outside of Live Arts Theatre, he has also acted in  Assassins: The Musical, portrayed Sam Nash in Plaza Suite, and was Capulet in Romeo and Juliet, all at New London Theatre.

Q: Is this your first show at Live Arts, and what other shows have you done with us?

A: This is my second show with LAT; Hot L Baltimore in spring 2016 was my first.

Q: What attracted you to audition for The Spoon River Project?

A: Edgar Lee Masters’ Spoon River Anthology is an American classic, and the opportunity to play multiple characters in the round gives me the incentive to expand as an actor.

Q: Name two fun facts about you?

A: 1. I taught plays to college students for 18 years before I ever auditioned for one. 2. I make my own jams and jellies using recipes that have been in my family for more than 100 years.

Q: What is your approach to playing multiple characters?

A: Whenever I play a character, I try to get at the character’s spine while inevitably including something of myself in the portrayal.  Playing multiple characters requires analyzing all of them separately and revealing different facets of myself in each one.

Q: Why should audiences come see The Spoon River Project?

A: Not only is the text a classic, but seeing all twelve actors in the round will give the audience multiple perspectives on the show.

Q: What, if any, special challenges are presented when bringing 19th century poetry to life on-stage ?

A: The style of speaking should be a little different.  I think it will be more formal.

Thank you Lee, We can’t wait to see you and all of your personalities come out in your characters! You can catch Lee and the rest of the talented cast of The Spoon River Project one weekend only, October 7-9! You can order tickets here.
