Meet the cast of The Spoon River Project- Paul Kamm

Screen Shot 2015-11-05 at 6.05.42 PMLive Arts Theatre is delighted to welcome Mr. Paul Kamm back to our stage for this production of The Spoon River Project. Mr. Kamm is a delightful person and a joy to work with both on the stage and off. In addition to his illustrious day job, Mr. Kamm has trained at the Alliance Theatre, taking Acting and Film classes. He has performed in Chestnut Bluff and Arsenic and Old Lace at Canton Theatre, in addition to performing in last years Christmas Show.  His Role in the Spoon River Project is that of Actor 1, where he will play the roles of Washington McNeeley, George Gray, and Richard Boone.

Mr. Paul Kamm has graciously answered a few of our probing questions for your enjoyment:

Q: Is this your first show at Live Arts, and what other shows have you done with us?

A: This is my second show. I appeared in It’s a Wonderful Life and played several characters.

Q: What attracted you to audition for The Spoon River Project?

A: Working with Becca Parker and the uniqueness of the play. It’s a poem with music that is performed on stage.

Q: Name two fun facts about you.

A: I am a practicing Attorney. I started acting at age 70.

Q: What is your approach to playing multiple characters?

A: I try to listen to the lines of the characters I am playing and try to glean who they are, where they come from, their age. and if I can use an accent to distinguish each character.

Q: Why should audiences come see The Spoon River Project?

A: Who wouldn’t come to listen to dead people talking about their lives?! Listen to the good, the bad and the strange.

Q: What if any special challenges are presented when bringing 19th century poetry to life on stage?

A: The use of language has changed so much during the past hundred years. The audience will have to listen carefully to understand all that is being said. It is up to the actors to speak distinctly and clearly so that the usage of 1890’s language can be understood by today’s audiences.

Live Arts Theatre invites you to come meet Mr. Kamm and several of our other actors for the Spoon River Project. We will be having an actors meet and mingle at Taco Mac, 3543 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Duluth GA, on Wednesday Sept 21, from 7-9 pm.  If you can’t make the meet and mingle, please be aware that any meal you purchase from Taco Mac on that day will go toward a fund-raiser for Live Arts Theatre.  More info here:
