Welcome to my little corner of the Live Arts Theatre Blog! Miss Rona, who has refused to take advantage of the multiple seats offered to her, and quarantine have essentially killed the majority of my social and theatrical life. I’ve decided to buy an inordinate amount of plays and just read. Not that I wasn’t already doing that, but the purchasing aspect has definitely doubled and I actually have the time to read through several scripts a week.
Through this journey i’m looking to discover new and interesting plays from playwrights both new and old and expand my theatrical knowledge. I’m looking for future shows that could potentially be produced on stage at Live Arts that blend with our mission statement as well as push the boundaries or tell stories not typically told or in new and unique ways. I’m always looking for scripts that excite me as an actor or a director and hope to find some gems.
I plan to post a play monthly and essentially nerd out and talk about the play and what i found interesting as well as what i liked or disliked about it. I also may include various technical aspects that may be exciting to design.figure out in the context of the play.
I invite you to read my thoughts and if it sparks your interest, get a copy of the script and read it for yourself. I’m always open for a discussion on an interesting play and hope this column on the blog will help to broaden other’s horizons in regards to new playwrights and content that they might not have read otherwise.
So come nerd out with me.
