What I think about the play:

It has been a while since I have read a play where a deeply religious character was not the antagonist or the butt of a joke in some way. This character, Shelley, is missing something in regards to her faith and is searching for her path to happiness. I think that as a character she is beautifully written and would be the perfect vehicle for an actress looking to sink her teeth into a complicated human being stuck on a journey that she has no roadmap for.

I had no idea where this play was going, but I was deeply invested and along for the ride. As my roommate could probably tell you, there were lots of audible reactions to some of the decisions that the characters were making and an ending that I didn’t see coming but secretly wanted.

I think that this was a beautifully written and touching play that I would recommend and would one day like to put on a stage. It is very rare, I think for a play of this subject matter, to find grace in the freedom of choosing not to forgive someone.
