peggymarxPeggy Marx is a retired registered nurse, a social justice and political activist, and an actress. Her son is also an actor. Her acting credits include Maggie Pollard in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The title character in Auntie Mame, Eleanor of Aquitaine in Crimes of the Heart.  We at Live Arts Theatre are excited to have her on our stage as Actress 2 (playing multiple roles) in The Spoon River Project.

Ms. Marx generously answered several of our self-revealing questions for your perusal:

Q: Is this your first show with Live Arts, and what other shows have you done with us?

A: This is my first! I’m very excited!

Q: What attracted you to audition for The Spoon River Project?

A: I got a casting notice on the ATML email list. The project seemed fascinating.

Q: Name two fun facts about you.

A: I love crafting and creative activities. My favorite color is purple.

Q: What is your approach to playing multiple characters?

A: This is the first time I have played multiple roles. I began by reading my monologues to find the emotion I felt in the words. Then applying them to the situation described in the scene. I imagined full characters- age- education- background, etc.

Q: Why should audiences come see The Spoon River Project?

A: I find it compelling and “not-your-usual-fare”. I believe that the audience will enjoy seeing the contrast of one character to another from the same actor.

You can catch Peggy and the rest of the talented cast of “The Spoon River Project” for one weekend only, October 7-9, 2016. You can find ticket information here.
